Sporting Kansas City’s new sports bar is like the Deadpool of KC’s most popular hangouts: it takes the best of its rivals to create a super power that’s impossible to beat.
Arcade games like Up/Down? Check. Engaging leisure activities like Char Bar? Check. Great bar fare and giant screens to watch sports like 810 Zone? Check and check.
And yet, Sporting’s newest gem offers so much more. Here are four reasons why the club’s new bar is truly like ‘No Other Pub’ in KC:
No Other Pub offers a mouth-watering selection of fare, from shareables like thai chili chicken wings to flatbreads topped with goat cheese and arugula. But our favorite option is the street tacos. Found in a discrete corner toward the back, the taco bar offers a Chipotle-like scene (minus the E. coli) for you to get your grub on. The offerings come with your choice of chicken, carnitas, ground beef, barbacoa and even cauliflower for the meatly averse. As if this couldn’t get any better, tacos are just $1 during afternoon and late night happy hours.
As you walk into the pub, you’re immediately greeted by a gritty photo of George Brett going postal on the umpires after getting ejected for using pine tar against the Yankees. Vintage KC sports photos like this adorn the walls throughout the spacious bar, including an epic image of former Chiefs great Len Dawson taking a smoke during a football game. But the best art? That’s a toss up between the argyle-themed backdrop at the back bar, and the beautifully-crafted gallery wall toward the front of the pub, which pays homage to all of the great sports franchises that’ve called KC home.
The Game Parlor
Boredom is not an option here. Even if you’re not a Sporting KC fan (which you are, because a. you’re reading this and b. Sporting is awesome), there’s still plenty to keep you entertained. The Game Parlor provides endless opportunities for you and your friends to nerd out on recreational fun. There’s a bowling alley, golf simulators, an arcade, ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard and even beer pong. Yes, beer pong. But perhaps the coolest game is Snookball, a life-sized combination of soccer and billiards that is presumably even more fun after several rounds of beer pong.
The Watch Parties
Featuring a 10’x15′ video wall, No Other Pub is the best place in town to watch our favorite professional soccer club. Not only does it hold watch parties for Sporting KC matches, it also provides transportation to home games at Children’s Mercy Park. You can even keep track of scores around the league with free WiFi throughout the building. And when SKC isn’t playing, you’re sure to have a blast watching other sporting events like the Big 12 and NCAA tournament games.
Verdict: Whether you’re a soccer fan or not, No Other Pub is a major score for KC. And you should probably go even if you don’t love soccer, because those street tacos aren’t going to eat themselves.
True Story: Mazuma is a sponsor of Sporting KC because we do what we can to help keep Kansas City fantastic.
