It’s been 22 years since the Chiefs won a playoff game, but the last time they did was against — you guessed it — a team from Houston. Back then they were called the Oilers, but it’d still be poetic justice for the Chiefs to finally break their playoff spell against the city they last beat.
Here are some rare photos from their last playoff victory:
22 years ago it was Derrick Thomas wreaking havoc on the opposing quarterbacks. Now it’s Justin Houston (emphasis on the Houston).
Joe Montana and Marcus Allen celebrate a Chiefs touchdown. Man, the glory days were sweet.
Neil Smith (#90) was just as famous for his nose strips as he was for his football strips.
This game was played on AstroTurf, which was about as soft as concrete.
Not saying we’re superstitious, but the Chiefs haven’t won a playoff game since this was published. #SICoverJinx
Nothing says intimidation like an oil rig on the side of your helmet.
Let’s hope some of that Montana Magic rubs off on Alex Smith. Go Chiefs!
