6 Surefire Signs That The 90’s Are Taking Over KC

If you were convinced that the 1990’s said bye, bye, bye to Kansas City all those years ago, think again. Our favorite decade may have been knocked down, but it got back up again in a major way.

Here’s proof that the 90’s are taking over KC:

90’s Bar Crawl

How does this sound for a Saturday? Drink specials at several bars around KC, jamming out to 90’s music (the original ‘NOW That’s What I Call Music,’ anyone?) and joining a crowd of 90’s kids reliving the glory days. Best of all? It’s really happening. Check out the 90’s Bar Crawl in KC to get in on the fun.

Someone call Ripley’s because they’re not going to believe it. Overalls are back in style. In fact, just a couple of weeks ago while we were at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, we saw two different girls rocking a pair of overalls. Whether you’re ready for them or not, overalls are here, and it doesn’t look like they’re going away any time soon.

My 2K Tour

Remember 98 Degrees? O-Town? Dream? Ryan Cabrera? Well, good news. They’re all back on tour – together! It’s a dream come true for the kids of the 90’s. The My 2K Tour will be in town on August 20 at KC Live! The best news? Tickets are still available.

Fanny Packs

Backpacks are heavy. Purses are bulky. Allow us to reintroduce you to a fashionable alternative – the fanny pack! These were all the rage back in the 90’s, and now they’re a hit once again. Gone are the days of going to Worlds of Fun with a bag the size of a small child. Pack all of your essentials in a fanny pack, and you’re good to go.

Sublime with Rome

If lovin’ is what you got, then you won’t want to miss this show on July 19 at Crossroads. Sublime with Rome is taking the stage with Dirty Heads, Tribal Seeds and Bleeker. OK, the last two bands may not have been 90’s groups, but this show still sounds like all that and a bag of Gushers.

Remember the sweet taste of victory after coming in first place on Rainbow Road in Mario Kart? Well, you can relive that wonderful feeling at some of the recent barcades that are popping up in KC — Up-Down, Tapcade, No Other Pub and Throwback KC. Enjoy a night out with friends, play some of your favorite games and bask in the glory of the 1990’s… in 2016!
